New build next to electricity substation

I am looking to purchase a new build that we just discovered is right next to an electrical substation which is 4x18 meters. The actual units in the space take up a tiny fraction of the 72 sq meters, maybe 3 sq meters at best. We checked the land registry and U.K. Power Networks have a freehold interest in the land since 1953. The developer indicated that “you can have them removed”. Didn’t get into it much beyond that as just took it at face value. Now , looking into it I can’t find much information at all about buying land from a power company relating to a substation. I’ve seen some random references to disused substations sold at auction. Has anyone come across this scenario? We’ve decided for us that if we can’t acquire the land that’s a deal breaker for us. We have two small children and don’t want to take the risk.

Your small children can climb/break fences? You should tell MI6!0

As there is existing equipment there what makes you think it is disused ?? Photo please
PS You may be lucky and the Distribution Company may have a replacement installation on the housing development .Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
It's not clear from your post - is it actually disused? If it is then the distribution company will no doubt take steps to dispose of it on the open market.

It’s not clear whether it’s disused or not. We are going to call UK Power on Monday and get more colour which may drive things0

If it’s disused surely the builders would have purchased and developed the area and incorporated the land into their plans?0

Active substations constantly emit a hum.0

If it was easy to remove the developers would have done so by now.0

We walked by today and were able to see inside the substation via a fence hole and it definitely looks like operational equipment. This is the aerial from Google Earth.
Guessing I should probably pass on this one as I don’t think that’s going anywhere.0 -
You & family will be fine as long as you are always wearing metal foil caps/hatsAnd obviously never use a PC, laptop, smartphone, TV, electric lighting etc etc etc etc.. And only drive a car with no, zero, electrics - no wiring, no batteries, no lights...0
