Abbreviations spoil these otherwise GREAT forums

Options
Hello
I am a relatively new member to this site. May I kindly share a point of 'constructive' criticism; without causing offense?
I thoroughly enjoy searching through and reading posts on here; I find it both insightful and beneficial. However, what spoils the experience for me is...
the use of 'Abbreviations' it makes reading and understanding posts; original post and responses, difficult as I have to 'google' the abbreviations before returning to continue reading. A simple example is OH = other half.
Is there a page on this site that lists all abbreviations?
I am sure that in the fullness of time, people will learn like myself through 'Google or such' what the abbreviations, however, I think whilst writing and responding to posts, it may be helpful to bare in mind that readers may not be aware of the abbreviations in which you are using.
Please note: I don't wish to offend, I simply wanted to share my personal observation in reading posts on this site. I also wish to acknowledge my appreciation to 'everyone' whom contributes to this site, which in turn makes it invaluable... Thank you.
Kind regards

Make a list of the abbreviations you're unsure of - post them here - and someone I'm sure will happily help. It's unlikely you're going to get the whole world to stop abbreviating things for the people that don't know what they are. Most abbreviations are so commonly used in internet speak that a quick google will soon get you a definition if you need it. That's the quickest way to get their meaning. Large numbers of people now post quickly through a phone screen, and we've become a world of abbreviators - nothings going to reverse that now  LOL ROFL OFC IKR LMAO.
  • Thanks for your reply cymruchris

This old thread from the Competitions board gives quite a few abbreviations: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4140501/abbreviations-on-mse/p1
The problem is, with so many boards and each having it's own favourite/specialised abbreviations, it would be difficult to construct a centralised list including all of them.

Thank you so much for your reply and for posting that link; I found that really helpful.
    Kind regards
  • I take issue with your use of the word GREAT in the title of this thread.

The forums used to be good on the old platform but they are not even that now :(
Thanks for your reply. I only just viewed this site over the last couple of months, so I cant compare to the old platform that you mention.
    Kind regards

The use of abbreviations are not unique to this moneysavingexpert they're used on most forums and in text messages (to save characters and cost less.)
