Because if I could just stay for a few days to sort out a few things , my house, bank etc, I would.
But not if I have to self isolate for 14 days, not being allowed out, see friends or family.
Nothing that urgent, but just would like to know if it is possible to only stay a few days or not.

I think others have tried to cover this and have done so well.

You could come for less than 14 days but the whole time you are in the U.K. you must self isolate in quarantine. That’s stay in one place on your own. No popping to the bank, no face-to-face business meetings, no trips out to visit friends.  It therefore seems somewhat pointless to come over whilst the quarantine regulations are in place.

It has already been stated to you that yes, you could in theory come over for 7 days but other than the trip to and from the airport, you cant go to the bank etc.

But if OP is self isolating for 14 days how is he to get back to airport, pass through airport security and onto plane.  Will he be allowed on plane when it's noted he has only been in the country a week?

The rules literally say this is fine...

"If you are required to quarantine and will be here less than 14 days, you will instead quarantine for the length of your visit"

Someone has sent me this from the rules.
If you travel from an exempt country but have been in a country that is not exempt within the last 14 days, you will need to self-isolate for the remainder of the 14 days since you were in a non-exempt country.

For example, if you arrive in the UK from a country that is exempt, but you travelled to the exempt country 4 days ago from a country that is not exempt you will need to self-isolate for 10 days

Does that mean if you go from Egypt to a country for 14 days which is on the UK exempt list, you don't have to self isolate in the UK?
If I could find one of the 59 countries on the UK exempt list, which does not require someone arriving from Egypt to self isolate for 14 days, I would do that, and have a holiday there!

    That is definitely allowed.

You will need to trawl through that list of 59 countries and see if you can find one. I suspect that you will also be limited by where you can travel to directly from Egypt.

...and then hope the rules dont change again within that 14 days
