Expedia Holiday - Easyjet Flights - Hotel Closure

Hi, and given the amount of threads at the moment thanks for reading/any help! Assuming there will be many more in the same boat but can't quite seem to find the same answer across the board.

Booked a holiday to Spain in January so before COVID-19 kicked off with Expedia with all elements of the Holiday (Flight+Hotel+Car) through Expedia. I was also issued an ATOL certificate for the "package". With the current goings on I had been keeping track of the hotel as it kept pushing the date back it was due to re-open and today the website announced it isn't re-opening until April 2021 so won't be available should I arrive.

I have been in contact with Expedia but they will only refund the hotel and car element, and I need to deal with Easyjet directly. Easyjet appear to deal with this as a "flight only" so didn't want to offer a refund. However, as I booked with Expedia as a package and they refuse to entertain the idea of Expedia refund of the whole package. (I do acknoweldge that payment and card statements for Accomodation+Car was from Expedia and Flight was separate directly as Easyjet)

Am I wrong in thinking I am entitled to a flight refund as the rest of the holiday isn't going to be fulfilled? I know that travel insurance will cover it but trying to get refunds directly without having to pay an excess, and with the circumstances i'm not sure a section 75 credit card claim (both payments came out my credit card) will bear fruit.

Anyone else had success?

I have had this debate with expedia with a different airline. The difference was though that eventually my flight was cancelled. If yours is still going ahead they may be within their rights to find you a similar hotel. What is happening with your flight - is it still going and how far off would it be?

You may need to be escalated up the chain (once I started quoting the package holiday regulations at them this  happened fairly promptly.)
We had several conversations where they asked if I would like to cancel my flight and I politely declined on the ground that the whole package was void anyway. They have agreed I will be getting a refund although my booking is still showing as a voucher - I've said all along I'm not accepting that, I want the refund.
As an aside, on my cc statement the hotel and flights were separate transactions however I believe that if you book them as one booking with the travel agent who then puts you through to the airline but the transactions happen within 24 hours (don't quote me on that, the details are in the regs) it still counts as a package.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Flight is currently going ahead, as we are flying out on the Monday 24th August I suspect I won't get any clarity on the flight program until the 10th at the earliest for the 14 day rolling program (However, have just noticed that our outbound flight now doesn't look like its available and they have cancelled all other Mondays until 31st...that may just mean its full though) . I tried quoting rights with Expedia but they kept to their line.
