Dear Minnie00Mouse,
If you can, why don't you pop along to your local 'Help the aged' charity shop for your friend. I am almost certain they have paid staff that make house calls to find out if there is any money people are entitled to that they are not receiving. I know there's someone who does this at my local charity shop, he even helps you fill out all the necessary forms so it would be no hassle to your friend. It's always worth a try! Even if they are entitled to nothing extra they may benefit from a little advice and help on how they can manage their outgoings etc. Hope this helps.Money was my kryptonite.

Its hard to offer much sympathy to someone who does not pay their bills .. because it is them that makes my bills higher. In this electronic age final demands are getting fewer and fewer and BT stopped using them (in our area) long ago. They did for a while try using brightly coloured envelopes to try to shame people into paying but then realised that everyone was waiting for them - there is no shame in mass stupidity.
On average it costs a business anywhere from £2.50 to £5 to send out a letter ... how would your friend have felt if they had added that charge onto their bill? Would probably have complained .. therefore anybody who pays on time is expected to pick up some of that cost.
If your friend had trouble paying then the first person they should talk to is the company themselves ... NEVER EVER brush a bill under the carpet .. it is the worst thing that you can do. Most utility companies spend significant amounts of money on call centre staff trained to work out agreements with customers and make their bills more affordable or easier to pay.
IvamI don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0
