It's only just over three weeks. Can't you just use the rug in one of the other rooms and then keep your son in the kitchen and the room with the rug? Similar thing happened when we moved and our daughter was around 11 months old. Carry him and hold him a lot. We did that with our daughter, it was no hardship. And at that age, you have to watch them most of the time anyway. It won't be long until the carpet comes. If your son's anything like our daughter he won't be crawling long anyway. Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. Although I do carry out careful research before posting and never intend to mislead or supply out-of-date or incorrect information, please do not rely 100% on what you are reading. In fact, once it's done you could tie scrubbing brushes to hands and knees every time it needs cleaning!

If you are worried about splinters, would simply flattening some of the boxes you have just moved all your stuff in, and laying them on the floor, not work? Use packing tape to join the edges if you want to be fancy or are worried about tripping over the edges yourself. All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)1
