Vodafone and CCS Collect

Hi,
I have received a couple of letters from CCS Collect saying that my Dad owes Vodafone £67.85. He died last year and hadn't lived in the UK for many years before he died. This seems to be another example of those random, tiring letters sent to annoy people and waste their time. Is there anything that Vodafone can do to help the situation before I start wasting hours on phonecalls?
thanks

Firstly, sorry for your loss. This would be the last thing you surely wish to deal with. if the debt is with your dad then you can notify Vodafone bereavement team and provide the death certificate so you can obtain control of the account. After such time you can ask for the debt to be recalled from CCS collect and have the debt brought back to Vodafone. Im not sure what your intentions are with this though as if you were simply to leave this alone it would eventually get to the stage of write off with Vodafone as they could never get the funds. However if you wish to take control of the Vodafone account you would need to pay this debtRemaining Debt - starting - £1609.44/current - £1457.730

Presumably the debt should be paid from your late father's estate.0

Either way ,unless the OP was the executor of his father's estate, my advice is to tell CCS Collect that he is dead and the date of death. No need to send death certs. - it is their problem to chase.
If he was the executor and there was residual monies in the estate then he should WRITE to them , send the death cert. & ask CCS for proof of the alleged debt. ie dates of contract and fully itemised bills.0 -
Thanks everyone for your posts. Much appreciated.
Just to let you know, I called Vodafone to explain the situation. I was put through to their bereavement team who were very helpful. They explained that Dad must have opened an account a long time ago in the UK, and that the £67.85 was the outstanding balance (must have been from a long time ago, and not collected for all this time). They asked for a photo of his death certificate to be emailed to them, and then they would close his account, write off the debt and get CCS Collect to stop chasing us.
I'll post again to let you know if this all works out..!0
