I keep pondering about replacing my oil boiler with an electric one (note: there's no gas pipeline near me) - putting aside the installation costs of an electric boiler, how do the running costs of electric compare?
Does anyone here have an electric boiler ?

Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill1 -
You'll go bankrupt with an electric boiler. It's about the most expensive fuel you can find, short of burning bottles of brandy.2

At current prices oil is almost as cheap as gas. Electricity is 5 times(500%) more expensive.
