Error in start date - 1st Central insurance
Options
I took out a policy with 1st Central insurance yesterday. When my certificate came through it had the wrong start date on it. I rang them up and they said they cannot change it. I would have to cancel the policy completely. There is a £14 something charge to cancel it, and I lose my first payment. I find this unfair. They were the cheapest quote on the comparison websites but please can you all warn me if I should be running for the hills? They seem to have a lot of bad reviews! The next quotes up were AA and More Than - sound more trustworthy?!

What date did they provide & what date did you enter?
Assuming you did it online. You did not have to correct a error, or fill in some missing info when submitting did you? As often that will reset date back to the 1st date available.Life in the slow lane1 -

So what's the issue with the policy start date?1 -
They put a day ahead 18th, but I entered the 17th. Feeling cautious about them..Achievements:

I specifically need it a day earlier as I am travelling to collect the car then and otherwise it won’t be road worthy.. will probably cancel as I am fed up alreadyAchievements:

I think I am going to have to if I stick with them. I’m still on my cooling off period technically, I don’t fancy the extra charges for cancellation and that they do nothing to correct the error.Achievements:

If at all possible, it would certainly be the path of least resistance.
So all the (electronic) paperwork before you took the policy out said 17th...? Or...?1 -
OR, get "Day Insurance" for just the one day...2

You have bought the cheapest policy available, and found out early that you get what you pay for. What will it be like if you have to claim?
Cancel now before it's to late and take your business elsewhere -1 -
Use cuvva or someone similar to get you home and then you are good. Sounds like your insurance company is pants though.0
