Cruise cancellation advice

We were on a cruise at the beginning of the year that was curtailed due to COVID-19. As compensation we were offered a partial refund and Future Cruise Credit or an enhanced Future Cruise Credit (FCC). We chose an enhanced FCC and booked a cruise for 2021 under the condition that we did not need to pay a deposit as this would be covered by the FCC. Since booking, the cruise company changed its offer to a full refund to passengers and no FCC. If we had been offered a full cash refund at the start it is unlikely we would have used this to book another cruise. The only reason we booked another cruise was to use the FCC. Can anyone advise on our situation should we now wish to cancel the cruise, as it was only booked on the assumption we could only claim a FCC?

Surely their current offer will relate to those who have cruises cancelled in advance, rather than curtailed, so that's a different scenario from yours, i.e. you'd never have been entitled to a full refund?

We were given a full cash refund for the cruise we were on in March as opposed to a FCC originally offered. We only booked the new cruise as we could only use a FCC. If it had been cash from the start we would not have booked the new cruise so just asking where we stand regards cancellation.

Nobody can advise you without knowing which cruise line is involved, have you looked at that particular cruise line's website section that deals with C-19 and cancellations etc. Many of them have an FAQ section which may help you.

I suggest that you phone the cruise company and ask them. That's the only way you will know where you currently stand and if appropriate start negotiations with them to resolve the issue.

Yes, think that's the only thing I can do.

Sorry for the confusion, all I can say is we were offered a FCC because the cruise was cut short . The cruise company then changed their minds about offering a FCC and gave everyone a full cash refund for the cruise that we sailed on in March.

You should have always had the option of cash refund for the portion of the cruise not taken.

That's the law, package travel regulations.

So you received a partial cruise and a full cash refund and an enhanced FCC?  In the circumstances I'd have thought you should be able to cancel the new cruise without being charged anything other than losing the value of the FCC, but what do the Ts & Cs say about cancellation policies?  Did the company say anything about reversing the FCC when paying the cash refund after already providing the FCC?

eskbanker, no we received a partial cruise and full cash refund instead of the enhanced FCC. The Ts & Cs don't specifically cover my situation but I'll just need to clarify with them. Thanks for your help.
