Hi,
I am desperate to get a resident permit so that I can buy for a season ticket for parking near where i work.
The online form says that the vehicle can't exceed 1500 kgs.  Ours weighs just over at 1590 kgs.
Does that mean I can't apply???   :s:'(

That seems very low - most cars would be over it. The only time I've seen a 1500kg limit was related to goods vehicles rather than private cars. Have a look at see if there's any further detail on what it means, or ask whoever is issuing the permit.

    What is your car?
Normally weight limits for parking permits are to stop commercial vehicles.

    You can apply.
    They may reject your application.

As others have said, 1,500kg is far from heavy...

They are possibly trying to prevent large cars parking there taking up too much space.
Auntie Google say that the average car weighs 3280lbs = 1,490kg.
So it does appear as though they are "encouraging"smaller  "city" cars only

If I understand your post correctly, not being a local resident may prove to be a bigger issue than the weight of your car.

Are the permits issued to people who work but do not live in the area?
A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".

If Auntie Google is giving a weight in pounds, I'd suggest Auntie Google is thinking of the average car in the US...

Either the Op works from home or does not understand what Resident Permit means?   Perhaps clarify?

UK cars go from 1000kg up to 2700kgs, approx

OP what is the make/model of your car?

As suggested you can apply, but may get turned down if yours is a 4 wheel drive heavy weight?

I’m a resident of the borough, but not that specific area where I commute to for work.  Car is a smallish freelander and weighs 1593 kgs

Then you may find you can only buy a resident permit for the zone that you are resident in.
