Kia v dealer fixed price for service

To maintain warranty need to get a 5 year service.+ MOT.   Online Kia price (£214 for both being done by my dealer) is transparent about what's supposed to be covered in the service so on the face of it, it seems reasonable.    Can anyone recommend this method?
(Strangely, the same dealer seems reluctant to quote any fixed price and is also vague as to what's covered, yet Kia would be using them to do the same job!)

Depends what's included in the service really.  Assuming 54 quid for the MOT, then 160 quid for a main dealer service doesn't sound too bad.  Having said that, you don't HAVE to use a main dealer just to maintain the warranty.  Any genuine VAT-registered garage can do it, and as long as they use genuine parts then the warranty isn't invalidated.  An oft-quoted advantage of using main dealers is that, if anything goes wrong that's not strictly covered by warranty, they'll sometimes be willing to give a good-will gesture if they've serviced it from day one.  But by the letter of the law, you don't have to use a main dealer, so long as genuine parts are used and the mechanic is properly VAT-registered.  Might be worth just asking a local independent how much they'd charge, that'll give you a ballpark figure to compare to the price you've been quoted.

In terms of doing the MOT and service together - it makes very little difference.  It could be argued that since they've got the car on the ramps anyway, it'll save a few minutes of labour, but I doubt it'll be a significant amount.  The real advantage is simply convenience to you - you don't have to make 2 separate trips to the garage.

Yes - I'm told that any garage can repair but the warranty says
You should take your Kia car, along with your warranty information and service record booklet, to an authorised Kia dealer during its normal opening hours and ask them to repair it for you. Whilst the contract to carry out the repairs will be with the dealer, we will pay the costs of the repairs. Any authorised Kia dealer can carry out warranty repairs, but we recommend taking it to the one you bought it from if possible.
and there is no mention of anyone else being able??

When the Freds come - and they will - take what they say with a whole sea sized pinch of salt.
Strictly, you can indeed use any VAT registered garage, but what if there were a problem and they found a non original part because the garage didn't have the one with KIA on it but used the one from ECP as legend has it that they are the same manufacturer so it makes no difference?
Check the price difference.  Try not to be pound foolish and penny wise.

I think you’re confusing two different things.
To comply with the warranty conditions, all routine servicing and repairs can be done by anyone, so long as they meet Kia standards. That’s the law.
But warranty claims and the associated repairs can only be dealt with by franchised dealers.

Kia like a itemised invoice of any service outside thier network to confirm parts used.

I'd rather pay the extra to have main dealer servicing within the warranty period.  It ensures any goodwill can be utilised if any of the parts fail just outside of the warranty period or there is a 50/50 decision to be made.

I now read 'if you don't use genuine Kia parts you'll void your warranty.'   Does this extend to basic things that are excluded from warranty, eg. wipers, brake pads/discs etc.?  Surely not?

Important relevant word highlighted ... it does not say you must. :)

But the reality is that you must, if you expect Kia to pay for it under warranty.
Taking it to a non-Kia garage and telling them Kia will pay won't get you very far.
