We wanted a cupboard removed in our kitchen of our new house, Head Office gave us a quote for it of £800 as they allowed for the tiles and work surface to be refitted if necessary. We declined and spoke to the site foreman, who asked a workman to do it there and then, at no extra cost, Its always worth asking on the ground if someone can help

    good luck

They don't so it because they have everything priced to their standard specification.

I think you're missing the realities of the construction process...

They have a sparky who is running from house to house doing all the first-fix.
Then they have a sparky who is running from house to house doing all the second-fix.
It is very unlikely to be the same sparky.
If that sparky gets hacked off and walks off site one morning, there'll be somebody else entirely there that afternoon.
He is given plans of each plot, generated by head office during the non-site-specific design process for each house type, with the selected options marked on them.
He gets handed the components he needs, drawn out of the site stock delivered just-in-time through the supply chain managed by head office.

You suddenly rock up and ask him if he wouldn't mind awfully... Nope, NOT that simple...

Where's the cable coming from? Where's the front panels coming from? Same backboxes as tv/power sockets, or different? Where do you want the faceplates putting? Where's the patch panel going? Are you supplying and fitting that, or expecting them to? Do you need more power in whichever cupboard the patch is going into?

I've worked in construction a long time I know the ins and out, this would be done on first fix stage,I've emailed them saying exactly what to do, tape on to TV cable leave 1 slack behind face plate, all cat 6 field cabling to reticulate back to incoming fibre node/router,it's for future use only no termination or testing is required.

Unfortunately the big new build companies aren't known for their flexibility and helpful nature...
