Cancel Sky

I have been with sky for several years and 2 years ago my husband and I had a volatile split. The account is in his name and they wont let me cancel it I- I am currently paying it from my bank account. How can I cancel this as do not want to contact him for his permission. I was told just dont pay it and it will be cut off and they will prosecute him and then I could take out subscription in my name. Is this true?

I tend to agree. You may be currently be paying for it but there is no contract between you and Sky so just cancel the direct debit and let them take it up with your husband. I would personally inform Sky of this and forward your husband's address to them to be on the safe side.

They wont "prosecute him" (just incase there is any element of revenge), not paying your Sky bill is not a criminal offence. They may pursue him for the debt but given Sky is paid in advance its only a month or twos subscription so doubt they go too far with it.

Also it is probably out of contract anyway if your ex husband hasnt contacted Sky at any point in the last 2 years.

If it is Sky Q do not dispose of the box.  Sooner or later Sky will request it back as it is always their property.
If it is Sky+HD then you can keep or sell the box.

Do you have a male friend who could pose as your husband & call them up & cancel?

Seems the best course of action. Ring them up, say you want to cancel as you are moving in with someone who already has Sky, they wont question this and give you a hard sell to retain you.

But they would probably put him on the bad debtors file to make it hard for him to get credit in the future.
I know Domestos kills 99% of germs, but I'm worried about the 1% that got away.
