Due to travel to Spain in 27 days, whats the best course of action?

so, im due to go to Salou with love holidays on the 22nd of August. First my hotel closed for the remainder of the year, love holidays just denied any knowledge of the hotel closing (this was said to another person on the hotels Facebook page, i haven't actually been able to get through), so I can only assume they would still us there and send us to another hotel (read theyve previously done this).
Obviously now fco advises no travel to Spain, I've only paid for my flights with ryanair. I've cancelled my card so the remainder of the holiday can't be taken. Love holidays is completely impossible to speak to. I personally have tried countless times over the last week. So there's no option to even ask for a refund or what they plan to do. I have travel insurance which would cover me if I had to cancel due to fco advice BUT they want proof love holidays are refusing a refund. I cant get this. So I'm not sure what to do at all. Do I just wait it out?! Or cancel now and try and claim. Ive been told there's no point contacting ryanair as its a package holiday so needs to be claimed via love holidays. I booked the holiday early 2019. My travel insurance is through my bank. Any advice would be great

Cancelling your card will make no difference. They can still take from your account in accordance with your contract.I am not a cat (But my friend is)0

With only 4 weeks to go I would have thought Love holidays would have already taken the balance due so you need to consider your next step based on that.
As mentioned above, cancelling your card won't help so basically, you have paid for your holiday and you need Love holidays to confirm that the holiday will either go ahead or is cancelled depending on how the situation pans out over the next few weeks.0 -
As above I am concerned that you have cancelled your card believing this stops payment being due. You may have caused yourself real issues as if you don’t pay you have basically cancelled the holiday and any balance still due would remain payable under the specific terms of your contract.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Balance isn't due till 9th august. I think because I booked it so far in advance they allow late final payment. Should I just cancel then?? I dont want to pay anything else. I would rather lose £700 flight than pay a further 2k knowing we're not going anywayNeil49 said:With only 4 weeks to go I would have thought Love holidays would have already taken the balance due so you need to consider your next step based on that.

I think you're getting ahead of yourself. If this is booked as package holiday then just wait and see what they say. It will probably get cancelled from their end and then you'll be fine.0

But i don't want to pay the final sum. Its only a week and half away till its due. Theyve been known to take full balance even when hotel is closedjd87 said:I think you're getting ahead of yourself. It sounds like you have booked the hotel through Love Holidays and the flights direct through Ryanair. Is that correct? If you are correct that the hotel is closed until the end of the year, then it would appear likely that Love Holidays are in repudiatory breach of the contract, and you are entitled to terminate and get your money back.It may be that Love Holidays could offer you a different hotel but they do not seem to have done so. What do their terms and conditions say about offering you different accommodation? Which hotel is it?0
