I'm sure I've seen you on another thread posting the same incorrect advice.MalMonroe said:
I'm sure I've seen you on another page advising people that they only need to spend 1p on a credit card to get Section 75 protection. That isn't true, please stop telling people that.jonesMUFCforever said:It needs to be her order in her name and cost no more than £30k.
Could she not get a card in her own name - she need not worry about the limit even 1p on a credit card means she would get S75 protection.
Think about it for a minute if there is a dispute, you would need them to keep quiet about your deception - do you think they would do that? I wouldn't.
You have to spend £100 on a credit card to get the Section 75 cover. I've actually done it myself. And it's on here : https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/section75-protect-your-purchases/
It's not deception for a relative to use a credit card to by someone else a kitchen!0 -
Thanks everyone for the help and suggestions.
I decided it would be less complicated to just help mum to apply for a credit card and wait a few days for that to arrive before ordered. Little worried as she has low pensionable income (although savings/assets) and has never had a credit card before. However no issues and she was immediately accepted with enough of a limit to pay the 50% deposit on the kitchen. She’s got the cash set aside to pay for it all immediately but this way she’ll get the s75 cover for the 6 weeks they take to make it. Phew!1 -
S75 is going to be more for the years to come. Not the 6 weeks it takes to make it, as that will fall more under chargeback.bluep said:Thanks everyone for the help and suggestions.
