Paying on CC for protection

in Credit cards
My mum needs to order a new kitchen (from an independent company not one of the big guys). It’s payable 50% now and 50% a couple of days before delivery. She doesn’t have a credit card.
I’m happy to pay the £5k deposit on my credit card so that if something happens to the company, the payment has that level of protection from the CC but does the order need to be in my name then? I can transfer the quote into my name and order it delivered to her address.

It needs to be her order in her name and cost no more than £30k.
Could she not get a card in her own name - she need not worry about the limit even 1p on a credit card means she would get S75 protection.
Think about it for a minute if there is a dispute, you would need them to keep quiet about your deception - do you think they would do that? I wouldn't.3 -
I really don't see this being a problem. A credit card payment is a credit card payment, whoever makes it. People often buy surprise gifts for others on a credit card and claim back under Section 75 (obviously gifts over £100).bluep said:My mum needs to order a new kitchen (from an independent company not one of the big guys). jonesMUFCforever keeps telling people you only have to spend 1p on a credit card to get cover under Section 75 but that is WRONG! It has to be £100. And it doesn't matter if that's just the deposit. But if you only put 1p on, you won't get anything. I've used Section 75 successfully in the past, only once but I did get all my money back, plus compensation for the fact that the supplier of the goods was awkward and refused to cooperate in the first instance.
I think you'll be fine getting it on your credit card.

That's incorrect.MalMonroe said:jonesMUFCforever keeps telling people you only have to spend 1p on a credit card to get cover under Section 75 but that is WRONG! It has to be £100. And it doesn't matter if that's just the deposit. But if you only put 1p on, you won't get anything.
The item value has to be over £100. Jones is correct - 1p will indeed serve its purpose for section 75.
Even Martin got that right in the link you posted.

Section 75 relies on a Debtor-Creditor-Supplier (DCS) relationship to be valid. 1p spent on a credit card is enough for S75 to apply to transactions valued £100 to £30k.
However it is likely that the OP paying for the kitchen will breach the DCS relationship.
@MalMonroe if you read the link you have provided it confirms jonesMUFCforever is correct4 -
No you are wrong, educate yourself and refrain from posting inaccurate and misleading advice.MalMonroe said:

You have to spend £100 on a credit card to get the Section 75 cover. I've actually done it myself. And it's on here : https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/section75-protect-your-purchases/
It's not deception for a relative to use a credit card to by someone else a kitchen!2 -
As others have said if it's your mother's kitchen you are unlikely to qualify for section 75 cover, but you could try and if unsuccessful try and get your money from MalMonroe as they seemed convinced that you can.bluep said:My mum needs to order a new kitchen (from an independent company not one of the big guys). Given that the invoice might say MOTHERS NAME or address & payment is on SONS CARD.
It's a straight NO from the card provider.Life in the slow lane2 -
I can order it in my name and my credit card used to be registered at her address (she lives 200m from me) so it’s not out of the question that I could be buying a kitchen for that house. It’s highly unlikely anything will happen to the company but I’m just being cautious.0

It's entirely out of the question you would be buying yourself a kitchen for a house you don't live in.0
