  • Diary entry
Nine months have flown by; now 3 quarters of the way through my DRO.
With hindsight, I now realise just how unnecessary it was to be so anxious and worried about applying for, and being granted the Debt Relief Order.
    Kind regards

Congratulations to you! The hard bit is over!

Keep checking your credit file and make sure that your creditors mark your debts as settled or satisfied, although this can take a good few months

I was so relieved when mine ended, I felt even better 3 months after discharge when my name disappeared from the Insolvency Register.

Best wishes to you and for a brighter future

  • Hi 1977dave

I am feeling so relieved that I am now free of debt.

    Kind regards

  • Just a quick update:

It's now been a whole year since the completion of my Debt Relief Order; a whole year of finally experiencing life of being debt free.

On reflection, I now realise how unnecessary it was to become so anxious about entering into a DRO. I can honestly say it was one of the best things I had ever done.

I had convinced myself that I was destined to live the rest of my life in constant misery, anxiety and stress caused by unmanageable debt. It most certainly had a negative impact on my health and wellbeing.

Thanks to having been through a Debt Relief Order, my outlook on life is now so much brighter. I am truly grateful that this experience not only gave me the opportunity to write of the debts, but importantly it gave me the skills and dedication to learn the importance of being careful with finances. I have been putting money aside monthly, without fail into an emergency fund
(where I can't afford to put away what I want, I make sure I put away something).

I write this, just in case anyone is looking for information on a Debt Relief Order. It's Ok to be worried and anxious when considering entering into a DRO; after all, the unknown is scary. That said, if you seek 'free advice' and meet the criteria for eligibility, then I would highly recommend you have a debt relief order.

Thank you again to everyone that had contributed to my post from the very start to end. All of the advice and kind words meant so much to me; at a very difficult time. To you all... I am truly grateful.

    Kind regards

Never seen an application that asks if you have had a DRO, bankruptcy and IVA yes, but not DRO.

You only need answer what they ask you.
