It recognises it as NS&I, but states it cannot confirm this is safe and you can continue if you wish.( to do with savings accounts and investments) Both numbers are correct as stated I've done mine through Halifax. You use your account in the reference section. Both attempts it was refused. This was between 4pm and 5pm. It was a standing order from his bank account to them. Customer services tried and they couldn't do it. I have no idea why you all can do it and we've been told they are aware of the problem, and he was under the impression it would be sorted in August. Either its just happened or were being misinformed by them. He opened the account a few days ago with £1.00 so we know those details are correct. It's annoying.
OH just told me customer service guy said his back room team said, lots of people were having problems, hence the technical team being put on it.3 -
Thank you Gary, was thinking it was just us, with others saying we were doing something wrong. Will try a direct transfer tomorrow.0

https://www.nsandi.com/direct-saver?WT.z_search=bank%20transfer:NS&I may be rejecting transfers where account names don't match or are too dissimilar.Pay in by bank transfer, standing order or with your debit card. All your deposits must be from a UK bank account in your own name.
Are you entering the correct reference? Each NS&I account has a unique reference number which should be used for transfers, rather than your NS&I number.
You can make payments in to an NS&I account using a debit card.
Transfers from Santander to NS&I work for me.

I have had some issues with Santander - in my case, I couldn't set up a new payment as it was trying to txt me a sms code which never arrived. All was fixed when I tried logging on to Santander from a new private browsing window on my existing web browser. Now if anything doesn't work, I try either a private window or a different browser. I think that as they update their system, something, probably cookie related, has got left behind on my laptop.Do Money Saving sites make you buy more bargains - and spend more money?1

I am having problems too. What I don't understand is that the faster payments system is supposed to be being used to transfer money into NS&I, well the transfer is saying that it's going via the faster payment system. But 24 hours later yet again with the second transfer it's still not there. I can transfer using the faster payments system from Santander to any of my other accounts in other savings institutions, Santander is open on one screen, the other account open on a second screen and pressing send on Santander causes the money to appear within a minute or so in the other accounts. Not so it seems with NS&I. The money is lost within the ether it seems. The gov't has been on at banks to use faster payments and it's about time it did it itself. Ditto when I make a payment for my self employment, disappears day one from Santander but doesn't appear on my HMRC account until day 4. In these electronic days theres no reason for this except the obvious opportunity to earn interest in some way for a few days I suppose on the billions that are sitting in limbo.

A few years ago I had a problem setting up a SO payment from Santander; at the time the problem was when the FIRST payment date was on a weekend - then a non-working banking date. It appeared that all ok after altering 1st payment day to an actual banking day, obviously later recurring SO payments went out the next banking day if not on a bank working day.1

Agree we moved money from another savings company and it sat pending for 4 days, so it knew it was coming but we couldn't transfer it out. Still can't set up a standing order, people are so quick to think your incompetent but its their system.1

I just sat on the phone for nearly 40 mins trying to speak to someone. Please NS&I you only need to tell us once that you have a website, that you're busy, that COVID working applies etc etc etc not 60 to 70 times. And believe me NS&I I would use the website if it answered the question I want to ask.Anyway I'm told that because the NS&I isn't a bank.....really.....with all the billions it has.....and it's the HM treasury.....that payments into it can take at least 24 to 48 hrs because they have to be manually checked (for money laundering purposes) and then manually allocated. Manually.....in this day and age????? It seems that paying money from a UK bank account into the NS&I where I have had premium bonds since 1960 and therefore known to them still means they don't trust me. However I suppose had I been named Sergey Aslanov from St Petersberg with a suitcase full of cash it would have all gone through sweetly and fast.
