There is a big difference between a paperless direct debit and a signed DD mandate, I haven't worked in this area for a few years but a paperless set up had no limit on indemnity and at any point a person can call up and say 'I didn't authorise that transaction' and the money will be returned, however if it is a physically signed DD mandate then there is a time limit (I cant recall how long but a year or so from memory). So its very likely these refunds are being made under the direct debit guarenteeAug 24 - Mortgage Balance £242,040.19
