If the bills were paid from a joint account, I cannot see that there is any authority behind this claim.

As long as one of the persons on the joint account gave their authority then it was/is an authorised transaction, surely?
Any dispute between the authorised persons is surely a civil matter?
    Vindictive nonsense frankly.

Confusing, is the ex husband saying he shouldn't have paid the bills or what, it is very confusing.

I suggest your wife sorts out with her ex husband what she will / won't pay. How long have they been divorced for?
Do they STILL have joint accounts for things? is so they need to be cancelled.
    No joint accounts still.
All bills were settled in the past, when they were married, and he is now trawling through all his old statements, then contacting the companies claiming they were taken out without his knowledge - even though they were married for 25 years.

I am concerned that the companies are making these refunds - in saying the payments were unauthorised he is basically accusing her of fraud - why are the company taking his word for it?  I think she needs to check that he hasn't gone further to any police reports of fraud.
But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,
Had the whole of their cash in his care.

I thought you only had six years to claim a debt. If these are pre 2013 then I don’t see how the company can now chase this.

That’s another story, not for this forum.

This is nonsensical. How can he now have in his possession statements going back many years, for joint accounts that he claimed were opened fraudulently, without his knowledge?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Contacted the company. The dispute is about an account from 2012.
They didn’t separate until 2015, divorced in 2017.
Will wait for the companies investigation.
