Should I replace my boiler

Options
I have a 12 year old  WorcesterBosch 24 I Jr boilerboiler . Which I have Inherited when  I bought my house .   When I moved in the boiler needed working doing Expansion vessel and the main heaters change which I managed to get done Worcester  Bosch 10 year Guarantee.  I can get get this boiler changed for £500 under a government grant for the new Worcester 2000 25kw. Should I  take advantage of the government grant while it available or should I wait till the boiler gives up ?

Personally, with a 12 year old WB boiler out of Guarantee, I'd go for the new one at £500 - Provided that it was like for like - Last time I looked, to get a 10 year guarantee from WB there were hoops to jump through ,ie The boiler controls, thermostats etc all had to be WB and not Honeywell/Danfoss etc.
Will the Govt grant installers do this?
  • The boiler would only come with 2 year warranty as it done under the government grant. It would be a similar boiler and the would replace the thermostat As it come in the box with the boiler. As on the 1st version 2000 series you can only fit Worcester bosh thermostat until the bring out the 2nd version boiler sometime in September

My 13 year old boiler has just expired and I'd take up that offer in a heartbeat. I can't as I'm in rented council accommodation and have to wait for them to replace it.

Or you could take advantage of the Worcester offer : 12 year warranty and all.  https://!!!!!!/3g738pG    But hurry 'cos it ends soon.

It sounds good to me and if I could have that option, I'd be very happy!  As it is I don't get any choice.

P.S. Don't you have to be on benefits to qualify for the new boiler grant?

  • I have an oil boiler which works OK but it is over 20 years old, would we be eligible for the govt grant , I am in employment, own the house, 1930's,  and live with my 18 year old son . Thanks.
