We booked as a family last year to travel to Italy august 11th. We no longer wish to travel to that country due to covid I have tried in all sorts of communication with Ryanair to try and change the dates to same time next year but they have not responded by any means I have tried.ie.email, Twitter, fb messenger no response what's so ever. I do not want to call as it is 13p per minute. There is £600 worth of flights that I am looking at losing what do I do?

So you are happy to stay in a country that has a higher infection rate currently than Italy? Strange logic.0

you should not need to contact them to do this, you would be able to manage it all onlinescavinix said:I have tried in all sorts of communication with Ryanair to try and change the dates to same time next year but they have not responded by any means I have tried.ie.email, Twitter, fb messenger no response what's so ever.

Have you looked at the Ryanair help pages, or tried the ChatBot?
You can change the dates on the Ryanair website or in the app when you go into the booking. You will be liable to pay a date change fee, plus any difference in the fare (if new flights are more expensive). This also assumes they are flying the same route next year and have it on sale. Phoning them, tweeting, online chatting etc will get no different response.0 -
I have tried to change it but it won't let me I don't want my money back I just want to change but I can't forward change it for one year later that is why I was trying to get in touch with them0

The only thing it seems is that in keep forward changing it...and keep being charged a change fee until I get to the right dates but that's stupid cos that will end up costing me more then the whole flights in the first place0

The flights may not go ahead I don't know yet as I know some destinations have been cut it's a southern destination so they may not fly there but their customer service should at least respond0
-
That's not the point...its the risk of travelling full stop, whilst I get tour point but we as a family can be in control of where we go and who we see, when travelling all the things we have come into contact with and simply flying and people in close proximity is not worth the risk for a weeks holiday not worth it0 -
You can only change to flights that are currently on sale, and the customer services agents won't be able to do anything about that (i.e. they won't offer you a credit note or similar).scavinix said:I have tried to change it but it won't let me I don't want my money back I just want to change but I can't forward change it for one year later that is why I was trying to get in touch with them
It's true that your current flight may not go ahead - and if it was to be cancelled you'd be entitled to a full refund. Although if it's still showing in My Booking, and it's still on sale then they are planning to operate it. Given that there aren't any restrictions currently for travel between Italy and the UK, then unless there's a big change in the next 2 weeks, I'd say there's a decent chance it will go ahead (that said, 2 weeks in Coronavrius times is a very long time!)scavinix said:The flights may not go ahead I don't know yet as I know some destinations have been cut it's a southern destination so they may not fly there but their customer service should at least respond
Customer services, like all airlines and travel agents at the moment, will be completely snowed under given the millions of passengers with cancelled or changed flights and the millions more who want information. Not making excuses - but that's the situation. And let's face it Ryanair aren't famed for having the best customer services in the first place.0 -
Caz3121 yes tried to change flight don't want money back just want to change to this time next year which naturally it won't have those dates available yet which is why I was trying to contact them for the to give a solution. Only alternative is to keep forward changing dates that I don't want being charged every time until I reach the date I want but then sure that will end up costing me more then the whole flights.i am on here as a last resort. For some help0

As you are finding out the dates for 12 months ahead are not available now and as you keep saying you have to pay to change them so as has been pointed out, even getting through to an agent on the phone will not prove helpful. If you really do not want to go in August (bearing in mind it is not definite yet by any means) then it might be less of a loss to just cancel altogether? Either way it seems you are going to be out of pocket (unless August flights are cancelled) so weigh up your preference? Rebooking a flight in next six/nine months, paying the extras for it, when you don't have any intention of going on the rebooked flight either seems pointless?scavinix said:Caz3121 yes tried to change flight don't want money back just want to change to this time next year which naturally it won't have those dates available yet which is why I was trying to contact them for the to give a solution.
