Hi Folks

I have an A3 Samsung Galaxy 2017 edition phone.  I want to transfer some of my photos from the gallery to the SD card in order to free up space.  However, Instead of moving over, the images get copied on to the card, so I'm ending up with 2 copies.

Can someone kindly let me know here I am going wrong?

Thank you

I'n not sure you're going wrong, but once you've confirmed they're on the SD card, you can delete them from the phone memory? You can have unlimited photo storage with Google photos (reduced file size but good enough for most uses). Makes sense to back everything up elsewhere  - I've lost stuff with corrupted SD cards in the past

    Yes use Google photos

Also after copying them to SD card. Open Google photos and click 'free up space' . This will clear your phone memory
