  • I had some Wonga loans back when I was on a very low paid job and in financial difficulty - I had no benefits or savings etc. I had no idea I could have just gone to the Bank to get a loan and they were so easy to get that I fell into that spiral. I ended up in the situation where i had to borrow money to pay my rent, then borrow money to pay them back. I did eventually go to my Bank to explain the situation I was in and they helped with a loan that set me on the right course again thankfully.

I came across a website somehow call Debt Camel and followed their suggestions of claiming some money back. It took about 5months in total but the FOS decided to help me and I got back £270 from Wonga the other day which I thought was nice.

I still have lots of debt but mostly just wanted the unfair interest/charges back which I feel that amount was OK for (it didn't even cover all my loans but I did not want to be greedy).

I have received an offer of £1041.44 from QQ today. I know I wouldn't receive much more going through the FOS and it wouldn't be worth the time waiting personally. I have just accepted the offer.
Realistically this is amazing for me as it means I can make a big dent in paying off some of my other debts.
Still awaiting a response from Wonga and SafetyNet Credit.

Ok so after accepting my refund they said I needed to call and confirm bank details. Then said I will receive an email stating refund will be made in 24-48 hours. How long have people waited for this email? They were very vague on the phone!!
  • After Wonga refused to uphold my complaint I referred it to the FOS, this was only 3 weeks ago. I haven't heard anything back yet, does anybody know if they even acknowledge the complaint?

So I have just received an email from Wonga saying they uphold my complaint and will refund me £994.27!
In the space of 2 weeks I have had over £2k refunded. Still awaiting a response from SNC, but I'm already over the moon with the outcome!
  • I had a wonga loan about 6 years ago that spiralled out of control until I had to change bank accounts and go into a debt plan (which actually cost £39 a month as they talked to the people I was in debt with). I don't have any emails from wonga left but would they still have me on file? Is it too late to make a claim? I was on minimum wage back then.

So got a response from sunny today and they have uphead part of my complaint refunding £738 which I think is a fair assessment as this was from the last 5 loans when I was in the poo have accepted the offer and it has been adjusted of my current balance.

This has now prompted me to now go after Savvy (Valour) this was the last loan I took out and I know they were well aware of the amount of debt I have during the phone call the advisor was looking at my credit file and was able to inform me I had a lot of outgoings but she could see I have no missed payments on any accounts so she was willing to go ahead with the loan (hear say I know) this loan was £1000 over 2 years at 330% so I paid £68 ever 2 weeks for 12 weeks and the until I couldn't afford it they have froze all charges until SC contact them ECT yet the balance is still £1300.

Does anybody have any dealings with this company with regards to claims as I cant find anything on the search function..

  • Hello all, hoping you can help, I’ve had my first response from the ajudicator regarding a payday loan with wageday advance that I escalated to FOS after the company didn’t uphold the complaint.
The adjudicator stated they don’t think the company was wrong to lend to me and that they will be closing the complaint unless I don’t agree and have further information etc I can then go to the ombudsman.
Can anyone let me know the next steps, do I accept this complaint won’t go anywhere and close it or any suggestions on what to say to keep it open and take to ombudsman following the adjudicators decision?
    Thanks all

    Hello all

Just wanted to give an update spoke to fos tonight as it had been nearly a month since i sent the final response letter to them from sunny!! It has been assigned to someone and in their task list i said i understand that i prob wont hear anything for a few months or so but i wanted to make sure you had the details and i was assured that i should receive some sort of acknowlegement in the next few days...will this be a "thank you we are looking into things" or an answer maybe??any ideas anyone??theyve had my complaint around 6-7 weeks now at fos

    TIA
  • Hi everyone, today I got an email from Myjar asking me to contact them to discuss my complaint (sent 27/9/17) I decided to ring them and got put through to the guy dealing with my complaint. He asked me to elaborate on why I felt the loan was unaffordable, so I described my situation and the fact I probably had 5 or 6 payday loans at that time and he agreed that they didn't carry out the appropriate checks. He then made an offer of a refund of interest and late charges on 5 loans (I only found one on my credit file for £300!!!) totalling £586!!. I thought that was a little too easy so I suggested that if I went to FOS I could get that plus interest, so would he settle for £700 as a F&F he confirmed that he could do that and would send an email by end of business tomorrow to confirm my bank details :rotfl:
    Awesome Result :T
Just as aside what he did say is that they are allowed to give discretionary payments over and above the loan interest and charges but if the FOS benchmark of 8% per annum interest is applied they must deduct 20% tax, so it's probably best to try and nudge them up a little but not use the 8% interest as you may lose out.
