As per your OP post:
"On exiting i was stopped by a ticket inspector who has never been there in my experience."
1/ If you actually purchased a £2:50 ticket? for that 1 stop journey that never had any checks at the arrival, you should have kept the ticket until you exited the station.
2/ You should have paid the £20 penalty fare, then if you desired appeal.
3/ You should have appealed to the TRAIN company, the one you regularly travel on. Not anything with National, Network, in the name. Or any other different sub companies?
And not on a motoring parking ticket forum?
Failure to do so has now cost you £300 plus? because you mixed up a few?
However to try and get a solution, again you are advised to register with the Rail Forum, which at the moment you still have to do?
Try and be concise with the facts? They might be able to help, but be careful they sometimes are not as nice as posters on here to your predicament and the way you have moved forward with your apparently self inflicted problem?

2) Also been explained
3) I don't know the inner workings of train companies or the MANY corporate branches they seem to reach into. Also I rarely get the train, maybe twice a month if that....
4) The fines were already issued, hence why we're here.
5) I HAVE posted to the rail forum as advised
6) Not sure you being contrived and pedantic is particularly helpful to anyone0
