Got my money back! The broker called time and decided to settle rather than have the issue get dragged out to the ombudsman.

You got lucky and its a result for you. However, be more careful next time. Entering into a contract has consequences and should not be taken lightly.Flatulentoldgoat said:Got my money back! This smacks of a "look how clever I am!" post.Flatulentoldgoat said:Got my money back! The broker called time and decided to settle rather than have the issue get dragged out to the ombudsman.
The reality is that it costs money for a broker to be dragged through FOS proceedings and you weren't worth their time.7 -

Well done, you must be wonderful at parties.

You didnt have a leg to stand on tbh, you got very lucky they couldnt be arsed taking it further. Hopefully you wont repeat the issue again as lightning may not strike twice.1

You got lucky. Its not a case of fighting your corner because of an injustice. You made a mistake. The FOS would not have sided with you. They have just done it because its cheaper to close the case rather than argue the toss. Not dissimilar to a compensation chaser going for an amount they know the firm is more likely to settle than argue.Flatulentoldgoat said:Weighty1 said:

So, one would think you would be a bit more magnanimous and less abrasive.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. OP you got lucky, May I suggest you look into things in more detail before you buy. If it was a mortgage, you won't be able to cry mis sold.
You might not get lucky twice"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"
