Hi @elsiepac. Thank you for the new thread and for running the Grocery Challenge. It's much appreciated. Please put me down for
£140
for August. That's for two people and our month will run from 1st August to 31st. This is the first time we've increased our main grocery budget in over 10 years. I have a horrible suspicion it won't be the last time this year.
Many thanks,
Pip

Yay, bookmarked. I need to reduce what we spend in August because I have nearly spent all my stores budget already this year (£400, normally across ten months) - so a month of minimalist food spend will help. Plenty of meat in the freezer, fruit and veg in the garden, and regular deliveries of eggs and milk. I'm going to see if I can manage just two shopping trips in August. Of course mine does not start until about the 4th.
And then there is the diet. I want to have an ultra low calorie diet this next few weeks to follow the medical advice from Dr Jenny Harries.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far

Thanks for the thread @elsiepac. I'm away for part of August so food shopping will probably be more expensive then as don't have access to much freezer space in the motorhome so can only take a limited amount of meat with us plus some tinned stuff so going to say £300 for the month which is an increase of £50. If we eat out it'll only be once but that will come from a different budget.
Month runs from 1-31 August as final payday for July will be 31st as it's a Friday.

£300 for me until the 20th. £5 spend today sandwich, multipack crisps etc7

£300 for me again as part of my annual target (not that I have a clue where I am at with it!! 🙈)
In all honesty, due to dh working from home and not using cash for months now, to say I've lost the plot is an understatement! However, we have decided that this month (starts tomorrow) we will make a fresh start and spend as little as possible- we will keep persie spends totally separate and really focus on using what we already have! We have enormous amounts of food in the house and quite a bit of veg is either ready or will be reasonably shortly so there is no excuse! 😉8 -
Hello again,
Please can I go down for £300 for August?
The budgets in this house have walked out in protest, so am going right back to scratch with EVERYTHING on MSE!!

Please can you put me down for £360 for August. I will also have a separate £40 budget for bulk buys.
I am planning a ‘No Spend Week’, a freezer and cupboard use-up and DH and I are cutting back on the snacks, treats and cutting out the chippy tea to lose some weight. I am hoping to come well under budget but as controlling food spends is not my forte we will see where I end up at the end of August!Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%
Make £2021 extra income - £99.758 -
Thank you for running the thread elsiepac, can I be put down for £300, I will be running from the 1st of the month.£71.93/ £180.008
