Paying cash into bank / ATM?

Hi,
I have a bit of cash I want to pay into my bank account. Problem is I am not available during the banks opening hours. It's genuinely been at least 5 years since I went near a bank branch or ATM but someone at work suggested you can pay cash into your account at a cash machine now? I bank with BOS/Halifax. Or at least, that's where I want to put the cash in.

Thanks for help.

Some Halifax ATMs will allow you to pay money into your account.

You could also consider using the Post Office: https://www.halifax.co.uk/banking-with-halifax/post-office/

The web doesn't seem to list where the cash deposit machines are - but from my understanding these are usually inside the banks rather than the ones on the outside walls. So if you can't get there within opening hours - maybe your best bet is to use a post office as outlined above.
  • Post Offices allow you to pay into your bank account through their system.

I pay in largish sums of cash, aswell as cheques, each week because i face the same situation as you @Malkytheheed.

It's been a real nuisance trying, and failing, to get to my usual bank during the restrictions period so remembering that the PO were available for depositing (don't know about other services) i just switched to this method; i'll probably stay with them too as it's easier logistically !
    (It's a sub Post Office/PO counter within a smaller shop )

Surely most are in corner shops these days? Mine is open till 9. (7 Sunday).
  • My local post office is inside the local shop, however, it does not remain open till late unfortunately.

Maybe one of the other nearby sub-post offices within a 2 mile radius of my home provides that evening coverage. Just not common knowledge to me, yet.

My sub post office in the local shop is open on Saturday mornings.
Do you not need a pay in slip fro the bank to deposit at the post office?

I think you can pay in with your debit card.
