If you’ve been out of the UK for more than 6 years, then as far as your credit file is concerned you don’t have any debts as they will all have dropped off by now - assuming they were closed/defaulted etc.

If you return to the UK you’ll essentially be starting from scratch and have to be back in the country for 3 years+ to get access to most kinds of credit again.
Unless of course CCJ's were issued say... last year.

Would have been outside the 6 year limitation period to issue proceedings.
What if a CCJ was issued 4 years ago?

OP said s/he stopped paying the debts in 2006, so in 2012 there would have been a statute bar. No court proceedings would have been issued 4 years ago as they have to do a small outline as to what the debt is, when it started, when the last payment was.

Do you have a specific concern you want help with?

    Sorry? I'm not the OP.
So what’s your point? Several people have answered the OP and you’re asking irrelevant questions.

What are you on about. Im not asking "irrelevant" questions. I was asking about CCJ's because your debt could be 5 years old then a CCJ applied and then that resets the clock for ANOTHER 6 years after that 5 years. I had missed the fact the debt was abandoned in 2006, I thought it was more recent than that. Just a misunderstanding.

No need to be so damn rude.

If a court proceedings were issued in time and a CCJ obtained, the CCJ will drop off the CRA reports after 6 years regardless of whether it's settled or not. The judgment can still be enforced after this date with permission from the court.

I asked if you had a specific query, just in case you needed guidance on something, had spotted OPs thread as it was similar to your query. I would rather do guidance specific to someone's questions than have them wonder if that covers theirs 🙂
