Attractiontickets.com COVID refund

Good morning
Has anyone had any luck in securing a refund from Attractiontickets.com for Disney & Universal tickets only? We had booked to Go to Florida at the end on July this year for 2 weeks and bought the park tickets for £2,500 via attractiontickets. Their normal cancellation policy is to charge 20% of the cost of the tickets. The tickets have been extended until Sept 2021 automatically. We will be unable to use the tickets between now and then due to COVID restrictions currently in place and having alternative plans for next year. I have written to attractiontickets asking for a full refund given the circumstances of why we are unable to use the tickets. I also included the Competitions and Market Authority guidance letter in which they state that normal refund policies could/ should be relaxed due to COVID. Attractiontickets have advised that as the tickets are not date specific and that they have been extended until 2021, they have fulfilled the contract and will still charge their 20% fee if the tickets are cancelled.

Does this seem right and has anyone had any success in securing a full refund on ticket only sales? We did not purchase their insurance policy with the tickets which would have allowed us to obtain a refund on unused tickets. I am aware that hotel and park ticket bookings are being refunded.

Is this worth pursuing? Many thanks

    IMHO -No
    1. Are your alternative plans for 2021 immovable?
    2. Can the tickets be sold onto someone else?
    3. How did you pay? A chargeback may be an option.
Insurance most likely will not pay out as you have been offered an extension.

IMHO I'd wait until August 2021 to see where you and the World are before making a decision.

Out of interest how much was their insurance?

    Many thanks for the reply.
Next year isn’t viable due to various things. Plus the fact that there will be all the additional tickets extended from this year along with it is an apparent anniversary at Disney next year so could even busier than usual?
I’m sure that the tickets are not transferable but would have to double check. It is not an option readily offered by the company.
Paid on credit card so will look at that as an option also.

It does grate a little that they are advising they have fulfilled the contract but we weren’t offered the option of not extending the tickets. Tickets as purchased had to be used by November - which it Is possible that travel restrictions into the US may still be in place.

Ticket protection was around £30 each I believe - not much in hindsight but our travel insurance would have kicked in for any reason we would have needed to cancel, possibly with an exception but that would be down to us deciding not to go rather than the current situation.

    Thanks again

    1. Start a charge back and wait to see what the outcome is (It may take a month or two to resolve).
    2. If 1 not successful then wait until 2021 to see if
        Your "various" things have changed
The company have altered their stance on refunds.
You can sell the tickets on to others
    Good luck.
