Ridiculous comment - If you buy a brand that does not work properly and you want a new one, most peoples inclination would be to chose from the numerous other brands available......mobileron said:I never understand peoples thinking,ie i had a sony tv with problems ill never buy another one, they make millions a year got to be some with a problem. My Ford Cortina broke down many years ago,had many fords since.
If you had got the 6 year warranty it would have been fixed or changed.0 -
I can see the Sales director of Sony quaking in his shoes with that statement. How do you know the other brand will work.0

It is many other brands and with the internet it is very easy these days to find brands / models that have problems and those that are generally well regarded. Nothing in life is certain but why be disappointed twice.......mobileron said:I can see the Sales director of Sony quaking in his shoes with that statement. How do you know the other brand will work.0 -
. Good become bad, bad become good, sometimes it is a particular year or model that have issues with any brand.0

Changed possibly but in my one experience with LG, certainly not fixed.mobileron said:I never understand peoples thinking,ie i had a sony tv with problems ill never buy another one, they make millions a year got to be some with a problem. I purchased a new LG television from John Lewis back in early 2013 and within a couple of months it started playing up. (losing signal). I had the aerial and cabling checked out and this was fine so I contacted JL. They arranged for an LG engineer to visit and he said that the TV needed a replacement board so he took the set away.
The TV was returned about 3 weeks later and the initially it was fine but it started suffering with the same problem shortly afterwards.
I decided to give them one more chance at a repair so the set was collected again. This time they had it for longer and eventually they contacted me and stated that the set was beyond economical repair and provided me with a letter to take to JL to get a refund.
I went their and bought a Sony TV that has been perfect.
With the single experience I've had with LG products, why on earth would I risk buying another one when there are plenty of other makes available?0 -
I guess that anyone who had a major problem with a Sony set would think you mad... :

With the large manufacturers, for every one who has problem thousands don't. Sometimes it's just the old Friday afternoon syndrome.
For me, it's not about the problem, but how that problem is addressed and fixed.....
All that said, I, personally, have never had a problem Samsung. The oldest one still running in the family is now 10 years old and still providing entertainment. My LG is still performing well also with no signs of any problems...

Indeed. I have a 2017 LG B7 OLED. It suffered from a panel manufacturing defect issue of a red/magenta/yellow rectangular area of the centre of the screen being brighter than the rest, something to do with the lookup table for that panel not being done when the panel had had time to sufficiently cool after manufacture so after a few months it would manifest itself - LG have openly admitted the issue. Contacted LG, emailed them a photo of the screen displaying a solid red picture where you could clearly see a brighter shade rectangle in the middle and within a few days they turned up at my door with a brand new panel and during the few days waiting time they sent email updates of how it was progressing. An hour later job done and it's been fine since.RumRat said:I guess that anyone who had a major problem with a Sony set would think you mad... :
