Hi
I am replacing my 37” plasma Panasonic TV. Unfortunately the more I read about new TVs the more confused I am getting. Our budget is between £500-£650. We watch tv through Sky Q, only have hd for sport. We occasionally watch Netflix and on a rare occasion Amazon Prime. We tend to watch straight on but if everyone is home some watch at an angle. The room is fairly bright. We tend to keep our tvs for years so looking for one that will be somewhat future proof.
I initially thought the LG49SM8050 (£499 with 5 year guarantee) would suit but then read the LG55SM8600 (£528 in a local store but 1 year guarantee) would be better. The Sony 55XF9005 is on offer for £624 and it generally has very good reviews but it’s an old Android system which seems to be a bit flakey.
There seems to be so much to take into consideration (viewing angle, brightness of room, sound etc) I seem to be tying myself up in knots.
Any advice greatly appreciated.

Can't find a LG 49UM8050 anywhere but John Lewis are offering an LG49SM8050 at £469 with a five year guarantee.
JL also have the LG55SM8600 at £579 inc. 5yr guarantee.
Both with free UK mainland delivery.
RicherSounds are also usually competitive.2 -
Thanks KeithP the 49” should have been SM not UM. I have checked out Richer Sounds they have the 49” with a 6 year guarantee.
I was also trying to find out was if anyone one was better than the other for my general tv viewing.

I find that with new TV's (bought one last week) if you are looking at a particular size and you are comparing different TVs that tend to have the same qualitys (HD, 4K, Curved etc....) its then just a matter of preference on looks and useability.
For example my last 2 TV's have been Samsungs and I am now used to the way you navigate when not using Sky.

If you buy the 49" TV you will always wish you'd bought the 55"...

Our top budget is £650. Would love one of the OLED models but they are way out of reach unfortunately.
The problem I have is when I think I found the right tv I read/see something that then put me off.

We paid £389 for a 55 inch Phillips tv. The picture is great for standard 4k and HD content and I'm glad we didn't spend the extra £150+ to go for an LG or Samsung. It's not great for HDR stuff out of the box but an acceptable quality image can be achieved by messing with the settings.1

Thanks Petriix, that good to know. I started searching following Which Best Buy’s but feel that I’m not really seeing what is best for our viewing habits and getting carried away with looking at more and more expensive models going on others reviews.

Stick with Samsung or LG, Their operating systems are better than Android TV.
Again, if you can get to Richer sounds and see them in action, it'll help.
