Barclay card rewards credit card use abroad
Cost of using your card abroad
If you buy something with your card while you're abroad, you'll pay one single, non-sterling purchase fee of 2.99%, every time you use it. If you withdraw foreign currency using your card, you will just be charged a transaction fee of 2.99% (minimum fee of £2.99). You can find a current comparison of our exchange rate for certain currencies as a mark-up against the rate published by the European Central Bank here
I thought the card was supposed to be free to use abroad or have I misunderstood?

You may find there's a time limited special offer that overrides the generic Ts & Cs.0

How do I find out?0

"No fees abroad – you’ll be able to withdraw cash from an ATM or buy your souvenirs without any charges and benefit from Visa’s competitive exchange rate"

Call them, make sure you have the right card.

Yes that was the case with my Travel card, think it's a "temporary" reduction to zero till 2022 but the T&Cs quote the normal 2.99% charge IIRC. Not sure about this new cardGerry1 said:You may find there's a time limited special offer that overrides the generic Ts & Cs.

Found my welcome email, all is ok
Your new card’s features
•
0.25% cashback on your everyday spending
•
No fees abroad – you'll be able to withdraw cash from an ATM or buy your souvenirs without any charges - remember to choose 'local currency' and you'll benefit from Visa's competitive exchange rate

Also, it's no longer limited:
Your Barclaycard Rewards offers
You get 0.25% cashback on all your purchases. Plus you won't pay fees on non-sterling purchases. If you joined before 9 December you would have been told there was an expiry date on these offers. The good news is that from 9 December they both became permanent features of the card and so your terms have been updated to show the 0% non-sterling purchase fee.

I'm going to hijack this thread to ask: I have a Barclaycard but wanted to apply for this Barclaycard Rewards one, but it says I can't as I already have a different Barclaycard. Does anyone know a way around this? Can I just cancel my current Barclaycard and then apply for the Rewards one?1

At the moment you can’t have two Barclaycards, the only way you might be able to do it is, to give them a call and see if they can change your current Barclaycard to the Rewards one.WelshBathGuy said:I'm going to hijack this thread to ask: I have a Barclaycard but wanted to apply for this Barclaycard Rewards one, but it says I can't as I already have a different Barclaycard. And a new card Is then sent out to you.Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:1 -
Agreed, I also had my platinum BC changed to the rewards over the phone, I wasn't able to change my other BC (Cashback, ex-egg) to a rewards one, so it may depend what card you have if they will allow the transfer.1
