I have been with VM via NTL for over 20 years, and have always rung up every couple of years and got a ‘better deal’. My last deal has just run out, and I am now paying £62 per month for 200mb BB, unlimited landline call’s anytime, and basic TV package.
I have rung VM retentions in U.K. on a couple of occasions (in case I got someone more generous) and in both occasions have been told this is the best they can do, as I am already on an ‘old’ contract, and the cost of this package to someone new would be greater.
I have asked about dropping the TV and anytime unlimited calls, and this would reduce the cost to £49 pm just for 200mb BB or I could also reduce to 100mb BB only, for £44pm. I know I could swap to another provider for circa £25 pm (initially with a rise to circa £32pm after deal ends), but I have had the same email for years, and it would be a pain changing to a new ‘hotmail’ or similar, account. Also, while we do not use the landline much, it is useful on occasions, and again, we have had the same number for years.
I suppose my question is, for what we have, does £62pm sound reasonable, or has anyone screwed them down to a better deal in the past couple of months.....
Cheers

I am in a very similar position to you, paying Virgin £63pm and wondering if I can get it any cheaper. I get the anytime calls, basic TV but only 100mb broadband but I also have the V6 box recorder which I do not want to give up. I worry that if I switched the TV set top box would not be as good. My main email is Gmail so that is not a problem. I have rung Virgin up to say I am thinking of leaving but have not got a reduction. Sorry I am not much help to you!
