North facing garden and living room

Options
I'm a first time buyer and have had a viewing of a property I really like. However if I have worked things out correctly the garden and the living room face north.
I just wanted to know how much of an issue this might be in terms of sunlight and warmth? I'm not a sun worshipper so dont need it to be boiling in the garden, although I do like a little light.  But I have had issues in the past (uni houses) living in rooms that get little to no sun and them being freezing, depressing and damp. The owners have extended the back so there is an extra small room with velux windows which seems lovely - however the larger living room now has no direct window of it's own, only double doors backing on to the extension. So I was also wondering what people thought of this room and how dark/cold it may be? The owners did have the lights on in the middle of the day when I went to view it.
Cant post link yet unfortunately.

Personally I'd not be interested - two of my neighbours have similar extensions and the pre-existing lounges are in permanent half light; even the south facing one.

That living room will be dark, but it depends on what you will use it for.

It looks like the current owners use the extension as a family/ play room.  You could use it as a 'day' living room and keep the lounge for evenings.  Would that work?

My partner currently lives in a terrace with a north facing yard and that gets next to no sun so he doesn't use it. However, with a garden of that size it might not matter? It depends what rooms you'll end up spending most of your time in really. Looks like a lovely property. My living room isn't south facing, but that can be quite good in a heatwave if nothing else.

Damn, I wish I was looking in that area, all that property for £130K!
The living room will be dark because it has no external windows. Maybe you could open it up to the extension more? Although my last place had a south west facing lounge with a very large bay window and on really sunny days I would have to draw the curtains/blinds as it would get too hot and you couldn't watch the TV!

Can you arrange to view it on a bright day early evening?

That was a bit of a plan yes! It's like you've read my mind. Its worth bearing in mind too that I am a single person on my own so i could really do what i fancy with all the rooms!
