Gas meter earth bond?

Had a gas engineer around that found a defect. There is a earth bonding cable in the gas meter box but it's not clamped to the pipe & was told it needs to be clamped on. Is this something I can do myself or would I need to call out an electrician it seems such a small job?

Only a board guide can, us members don't have the magic powers. I don't know who the guides are, sorry!

It's actually pretty low tech stuff. Have a go, you have nothing to lose.0

Use one of these ...

Clamp it to the pipe on the right and connect the wire.

That’s my thinking guess my biggest worry is if it’s safe for me to do can I just turn the electric off & test if it’s live (don’t think it will be) with a tester ? Also do I just clamp it on like that or cut it anyway?blue_max_3 said:It's actually pretty low tech stuff. Have a go, you have nothing to lose.0 -
Anywhere on the pipe on the right? Do I need to cut the wire to clamp? Also EC14 or EC15 clamp?anselld said:Use one of these ...

There is no electricity involved. No need to turn the electric off. It is an earth strap to stop the build up of static. And yes, anywhere on the pipe. Just make sure it's visible to be checked in future. You literally just need a physical connection from the pipe to the wire.0
