If you instructed them more than one company, then yes, you may be liable for their fees too. It's not unusual.

    Check the contract.

Has anyone been charged a success fee when the company in question hasn't had success ?

Yes.  Where complaints are rejected but a plevin payout is arranged.

Or where people have employed two companies to complain to the same bank/provider.

When you say you’ve had no success, do you mean the complaints were flat out rejected or were they upheld but redress was used to offset debt held with the lender and/or you’ve been in an IVA or bankruptcy?

alternatively, have you claimed on the policy whilst it was active and had benefit that way?

whichever way up, this will be an expensive lesson in employing 2 different companies to do something it would have been cheaper and easier to do yourself.

    it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
    their - 'owned by them'
    they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)
  • I had a PPI company do a search for me and so far I have received no further contact from them since August 2019 last year. I've had a few emails and txt's from Barclay's telling me that due to the pandemic it was going to take longer for them to process my claim. The other day whilst checking my bank account, Barclays had paid out!!!
I've been back through my emails to check whether the PPI company had emailed me and it had either been lost in my emails or ended up in my junk folder, there was nothing except for the "claim pack" email dated 06-08-2019. I've tried to log into there site to see if anything was still active but my email and password were not recognised and when I sent a password reset request I got nothing back?
Shall I just wait a bit too see if they contact me for the fee payment or shall I try to contact them by other means and pay their fee?

yes.  Put aside their cut just in case.

or shall I try to contact them by other means and pay their fee?

  • I have just had an invoice sent through email from JPS Financial for a claim that they said they had success in with Canada life which Canada life themselves state was due to MY enquiry, this was 3 years ago, JPS tried it on 18 months ago and I said no this was not you then out of the blue after hearing nothing for 18 months they have just emailed me a bill again - what can I do?  They are claimed I owe them £420 when the joint claim payout to me and my ex husband was only £1000

  • Check the contract. You'll almost certainly have agreed to kindly give them a large chunk of any redress.

Out of interest, do you really mean Canada Life as they are not a general insurance provider and didn't offer PPI.

     what can I do?

Ask for a copy of the contract that shows you agreed for their service.  Then read it.

  • Do you mean Canada Square?
Regardless, if you employed the PPI firm and they submitted the form with a letter of authority, then even if you did 100% of the work, you still owe them - such is the nature of CMCs
