Daughter & her boyfriend moving into their first home together - benefit help & advice needed please

It was the thought that the boyfriend could claim child benefit and possibly child tax credits for the girlfriend that was strange. Thinking about it further, if the girlfriend is classed as a dependent of the boyfriend in order to claim CB and CTC, that opens up more in the way of student loans for him.

That bit I can't comment on, but the opinion was firmly expressed by others that Mum was committing benefit fraud.
I remember checking this when the boys first got paper rounds, and then started working at the cinema while still at school. It wasn't a problem.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
While the daughter lives in the parental home with mum, surely the situation changes when the daughter moves out and sets up home with her boyfriend. At this point don't the mothers benefits claims end?

OP, has your daughter looked at the calculators available via EntitledTo and Turn2US? They should help her and her partner work out what they might be able to claim, although I think it may well be more sensible for them to wait until at least one of them is working -All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0
