Barclaycard issue several 'platinum' cards, including a few 'travel' cards in the last few years, the first one of which I think was only free for overseas use until some time this year.

So we don't know which platinum card you have - do you..? Have you checked its T&C's..?

Why chance it? Get a Curve card and link it to your Barclaycard, then you can use Curve to pay with your Barclaycard and know for sure that there will not be any fee.

    Nope. Only Europe.

You need to identify which Barclaycard in order to glean the T&C. There was the Platinum Travel and the Platinum Cashback that levied no charges, nor interest on cash advances that were settled by statement date.

    "Nope. Only Europe."
I think Europe may be misleading - it's actually the SEPA region.
For example, there is a very small part of North America where the Euro is the legal currency,  a remnant of France's empire.
