At some point you will have to post the plate online if you sell.
Ah yes, but open myself up to comments on whether it would sell etc which wasn’t the point of my post :)

    the current registration (cars original)
If you are taking off the original car registration issued by DVLA at first registration, then no you cannot retain or sell it. DVLA keep it and it will  reassigned to that car  when the  private number is taken off.

Most likely, the first thing you do is apply to retain the plate that is on the car now (£80), then the DVLA issue another number, then you transfer the vanity plate onto the car sending the another number back into DVLA limbo- it may come back if the vanity plate is retained..

I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

Comments will come regardless, just like this one. The market will drive the result, not any comments.

My question was not about the cost or price of anything, only if what I am considering is possible.
I preferred not to answer for that reason only.

Again, the market will dictate if its possible to sell or not. If the plate has no meaning it will have no selling power and vice versea.
  • @Scrapit I think that you have misunderstood my question, I meant was it legal to sell it.

Thanks for replying, I have my answer now 👌
I do realise that it will only sell if someone wants to buy it.
