On the OP.
TBH. If you can afford to pay, then why not. I'm certainly happy to if it helps fund the NHS. Round here you have to stop and go to the kiosk for free parking on the way out.
Personally it's not worth the couple of quid it costs. But I understand to some it is. When you see some of the above cars waiting in line to avoid paying. You just have to think why... Oh it's because I can....1 -

The post WAS harsh because it did seem spiteful. I don't see why anyone, including staff and blue badge holders (as was stated in the original post - and which was the point of the OP) should have to pay to park at any hospital. It's ironic.
A lot of these cars are not available via Motorbility. So they are funded by themselves.
Round here I regularly see Range Rovers, Discoveries, BMW's, Mercs, Telsa & even the odd Porsche. With BB & that is in Hospital car parks as well.
If they can afford a car like that, then they can afford car parking charges.
Sure some maybe because it is a family members car taking a disabled person out.

Oh it's because I can....The vast majority of drivers who are enttitled to bluebadges are not driving Motorbillity cars !We tend to drive old cars - and also the average disabled oerson would rather spend £8 (which is what 2 hours parking costs at my hospital) on food/heating rather than filing the coffers of private parking companies !0 -
I completely agree that you would rather the £8 was spent on food or heating, but as a disabled non driver I would love the luxury of having a car and would be happy to pay for parking. I don't even have anyone to give me lifts.
I have to manage between buses, taxis and walking.
I do qualify for a free bus pass, however if i need a taxi to/ from Hospital (on the days I can't manage 4 buses and 2 walks to get there) it costs me £10 each way.
NHS travel refunds (which I also qualify for) cover the cheapest method of public transport so to get taxi fares back is extremely rare.
