Removals quoted £3,157.60 for 3 bed detached house in North East

I have more appointments to come for more quotes but our first quote for packing and removals to our new property 26 miles away was £3157.60. I had budgeted £1500 maximum but am beginning to wonder if I’ve massively under budgeted!?!
We live in a 3 bedroom detached property. 3 toddler beds, 1 double bed, 3 bedside cabinets, 3 double wardrobes, 2 triple wardrobes, 3 chests of drawers, 1 sofa bed, 2 small sofas, 2 medium sized sofas, 1 tv unit, large dining table and 8 chairs 1 large sideboard, 2 small sideboards, 2 medium bookcases, 1 fridge freezer, 1 washer, 1 tumble and about 30 large boxes of contents of the above!! Not sure if this is too much detail or not enough!??
Any advice greatly welcomed.

Are they coming to pack your belongings and provide insurance in case anything gets damaged ?
Got to assume this is one of the big national removal companies.

I think the best option is always pack yourself with boxes provided and they literally do all the big things...
  • I am in Wales, but our quotes for removals only were around £800 for a 5 bed house. We didn’t have the packing service but I believe it adds a LOT of money on, so personally I’d probably rather pack myself and save the money for something else!

Cost around a grand to go and hour from a 3 bed to another 3 bed. I have an awful lot of stuff, but didn't have white goods to take.

They packed and did the whole move.

    East London to Essex.

Remember that VAT accounts for 20% of that figure.
The distance that the removals firm travels isn't that relevant. As will only do one job in the day. Highly likely the guys will be sitting around waiting for you to collect the keys.

I’m moving 350 miles soon. Three bed terrace, 2 day move, quoted £1600 without packers. Quotes ranged massively with some quoting £2800 for the same service. Have a shop around.
  • @dimbo61 yes one of the big national firms. I will try a price comparison site too 👍🏻 And @youth_leader thank you for that recommendation will get in touch with them also.
Thank you so much everyone. Yes ultimately I’m up for packing myself. I was just hoping I could save myself the stress with my mum and dad still shielding and a 3, 2 and 1 year old in tow I was hoping I could have the hard bit done for me 😂 but I’m always up for a challenge 💪🏻🙌🏻😂
    Thanks again.
