will my credit score be permanently affected?

My bank address for main acc was wrong - 14 instead of 14a which mean my credit score was wrong for a while - it was 283 but went up to 430+ (on clear score) as soon as the change went through - how long will my lower score be on the credit file? I want to start getting a mortgage soon and don't want this minor error following me around for a while!

Lenders don't see any of your scores.
They will see the address update immediately.0 -

I not a lender so my scores mean nothing.
Im not a lender though so ignore my ratings.1 -
Even though they have updated the address from 14 to 14a, it could still show as a linked address on your credit file. You can request a copy of your file from all CRAs, if any of them show the linked address you can ask for it to be removed/updated.Having said that, whilst it may make a slight difference to how lenders score you using their internal scoring systems, I can’t see as it would likely have any significant impact - but no harm in getting it corrected regardless.0

Other factors also influence the score on a monthly basis. If your credit card balance goes up, the score goes down. If your credit card balance goes down, your score goes down. If it's sunny on the second Thursday, your score goes down. The number is nothing more that a very wild, rough guide as to how lenders might perceive you, and it can be very inaccurate. What's more important is the data, the fact you have lines of credit managed responsibly over a long period of time. Nothing much will have a PERMANENT effect on the wildly varying score - even bankrupts see an improvement after 6 years if they manage their financial affairs positively. As has been said, give it a couple of weeks for all updates to have been updated on all CRA's - then get your reports, see what they say, and if necessary report an issue asking the address be removed/updated as it is in fact one and the same address.0

With mortgages it’s all about affordability. It’s wise to do as you’re doing and keep an eye on your file before applying because your mortgage lender will use your credit file to confirm some of the details you’ve given them. On the other hand a lot of the things your mortgage provider is interested in aren’t on your credit report. The guide to getting a mortgage on this web site is well worth a read.
