Motorhome Hire refund

Options
We booked a Motorhome hire back in January for the 30th March to the 18th April specifically to travel to France at a cost of around £1700 as well a Eurotunnel booking. We took out a Eurotunnel single trip Insurance and the motorhome hire company, within than £1700 also levied a £270 Insurance cost for European cover. Once lockdown came in place, neither company would refund but did agree to defer the motorhome hire and the Eurotunnel booking for 12 months. However, we are struggling to agree a new hire period, the motorhome company offering dates of just 11 days, in August, or the full 18 days in October. Neither dates are acceptable. Can we realistically demand refunds from both companies despite their terms and conditions apparently saying they are not liable for pandemics? I'm not sure how we paid, but it may have been by Visa debit...is that a route we could use to reclaim our almost £2000?
