r any updates on this? I’ve called my bank (Lloyds) and they said I had to call the Finn s0

Sorry not sure what happened there but now I can’t delete my above post. I was trying to say I have contacted my bank (Lloyds) and they said I have to contact finance company first (Tabeo) and see what they advise and if no help to come back to the bank and they will assist. Have called and sent message to them so will see if they respond but anyone has luck with a refund/cancellation of further monthly payments please can you update here. Can the company make you takeover treatment with Alignerly? I think I might cut my losses, stop payments (if it doesn’t put me in bad credit) and have a final retainer made by my dentist.0

If your dentist makes the retainer, it would be far far easier to make a complaint against him/her for future problems from this treatment than it ever would to get recompense from the company who actually did it.
I wouldn't touch a patient who had used a service like this with a bargepole. It's just not worth the hassle. How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
The problem is you will not have had in depth x Rays , your gums have not been assessed and , most importantly an orthodontist has not seen you in person to check your mouth is healthy enough and the treatment plan is the right one for you.
If you are still undergoing treatment and its an aligner you need to move teeth , rather than retainer which just holds teeth in place , then you would need an orthodontist/ dentist who does aligner treatments to see you and do a full examination , agree to a treatment plan and make aligned followed by retainers.
The companies which produce aligners charge dentists a licence fee plus a large amount for use of software etc to produce aligners.
As TS alluded to earlier there have been many problems with people having massive damage to their teeth from remote braces and , as you have found out, getting resolution for problems can be impossible even if the company is still trading. Many orthodontists will be very cautious about taking over such dubious treatment and that will have cost implications.0 -
Hi all, exactly the same situation. I've paid them £1500 for treatment, and having been emailing to request a refund having subsequently been told by them that I'm unsuitable for treatment; with all emails being returned as undeliverable. Not sure where to go from here ....

Hiya, so I just tried to contact Your Smile Direct via email, only to have it bounce back & with a quick google discovered this convo. I have about £600 remaining to pay the loan company, etika but still need another 2 sets of aligners to complete the plan, as well as my retainers to maintain what has been achieved so far or all that money will be wasted whilst I still continue to pay off my loan. etika said they will knock off the cost of the remaining aligners owed & retainers from my balance due. I have a direct number for someone in Ireland who worked for the company as some sort of top manager & I just reached out to her. She got back to me to say she left before all the mess & apologised (didn't have to do that, could have ignored me!) but directed me to a Facebook Group Your Smile Direct Abandoned Customers & suggested it might be useful.
I hope this helps. Cheers2 -
@zut_alors - I'm in exactly the same situation as you, except I have just under £1000 to pay for my treatment. Etika, the finance company, have said that they will knock off £250 for the non-supply of the retainers, and £150 for the whitening, making a total of £400. So my outstanding bill will be reduced to approx £500.
I'm still unhappy to pay this as Your Smile Direct haven't completed their contractual obligations to me as my treatment plan is unfinished.
Does anyone know where I stand legally with this? Why should we have to pay large sums like this if the company goes bust without completing our treatment plans?
I want to cancel my direct debit to Etika and refuse to pay any more, but obviously don't want to adversely affect my credit rating, etc. Any advice on how I (an others who are in the same situation) should proceed here?

I have emailed them and no response on 2 weeks. I've still got over £1000 to pay them on monthly finance with tabeo. If I can't get my retainers then entire treatment is a waste of time!0 -

I am in the same boat as you all and finished my treatment which i am still paying for but didnt get the end retainer or the whitening (not to mention suffering from dental problems now - i suppose thats what you get for cutting corners)I have contacted Tabeo, but they want proof of purchase etc and im finding it difficult to even access my records!Might not get a response - but did anyone get any further with this nightmare?0 -
My daughter wanted some teeth alignment and went to a company called Smile direct. She paid a deposit to them and took out a credit agreement with Tabeo. Smile direct went into liquidation and my daughter never received the teeth aligners. Tabeo are insisting that she keep up her payments even though she has not received the goods. They claim that they are not dually responsible under the consumer credit act for non receipt of goods as they are not regulated and that my daughter continue to pay them credit. The financial ombudsman are unable to help as it does appear they are unregulated. Is there anything we can do to get credit agreement canceled and/or money refunded?0
