sale of goods act on second hand goods is a lot less powerful. If you've been given a chance to inspect the car and accepted it and now you're upsaet about an obvious cosmetic defect I don't think you'll have much joy. If the car was supposedly mechanically excellent and the gearbox failed the next day you might have some comeback but not over a piece of trim you should have noticed.

I'll second loobys response! Blacksheep - you've obviously not read or understood my original post, issue is not a matter of being "upset regarding an obvious cosmetic defect with regards to a piece of trim".

The issue is the fact that this man wasn't even prepared to listen to my dad's issues with regards to the found problem. It wasn't my dad that was trying to pull out of the sale and/or ask for his deposit back, he was trying to ask what his options were with the regards to the problem being put right. Can someone really just refuse to discuss the matter further, make threats and pocket the £100???

Thanks to all of you (who have understood my op and submitted responses).
Annoying as it may be, I've told my dad I'd rather lose £100 than fork out 5K to find such problems later!

    It's their job, isn't it?

Is that assuming they have nothing better to do?
