Has anyone punted on Copper ETC or mining groups, as the demand is high due to switch to cleaner energy?
I've been top slicing mining stocks. That boat has sailed.

It is good to board the boat before they are sailing. But many people could not do that for various reasons such as need more evidence, not come into attention earlier, personal reason such as funding, etc. But you do not need to catch the boat while it is still on the port, even they are already sailing as long as you it has not reached the final destination where everyone have emptied the boat. The gain you make might be less than other people but it is better than not making gain at all.

True, I have a small holding in SMT, while the boat may have sailed far from 800p, it's still a good IT with solid managers, for the long term

Although I am not brave enough to put some coin in Tesla.

I've put some in THG though, very promising company

Still monitoring ABNB, but too volatile for my risk appetite.

  • I bought some Blackrock World Mining {BRWM) a couple of months ago and that is doing very well and I have held Greatland Gold (GGP) for around 6 months and that has been brilliant

US politicians reach deal on $900bn stimulus package.
Get ready for the show. Many investors know what to do.

On hearing the news, I didn't delay and immediately sprung into action and did nothing.
Damn. I was busy at the office earlier, looks like I missed out on all the action. :(

Well. Sensible people will not just jump in reposnse to any news.

"Buy low Sell High" sound familiar ...???

    For the news like this:

"US politicians reach deal on $900bn stimulus package. "

It will be catalysator for a bullish trend ahead. If you already have planned the stock to buy on the dip, based on your own thesis this will further support the thesis on the bullish side.

Im an inexperienced investor but I do like reading about what people think is the next 'big thing' .  I,  like loads of others think  alterative energy funds have a great future  ,  but I also have a feeling that  alternative agriculture/food  will take off too at some point. Theres been increasing discomfort about the inequality of food availability  across the world , about animal welfare, about healthy eating , about climate change  and land availability /suitability  for production of food  whether it be animal or plant based.  I rummaged a bit and  found this new fund which interested me . I haven't the knowledge atm to  invest  since Ive had nothing to do with ETF's to know whether they are suitable for me or not , plus Ive no idea what risk level this fund is considered to be , but curious and interested to know what you seasoned people think of  its prospects and general direction . I dont think this field will perhaps do well  until the economy recovers as short term lack of money often sees ethical choices go out the window, but we are always going to need food,  so when we recover perhaps?https://www.hl.co.uk/shares/shares-search-results/r/rize-sustainable-future-of-food-ucits-etf

Interesting!  There is something deeply counter-intuitive about investing in new technologies that are also natural and organic...!  I'm also slightly bemused by
The index follows a purity-based weighting scheme where companies with higher revenue exposure to the theme achieve a bigger weight in the index.
and would be wary of anyone who judges their success by comparing against their own in-house index!

If you are looking for a punt in the "new foods" realm, perhaps Agronomics Ltd is worth a look  https://www.hl.co.uk/shares/shares-search-results/a/agronomics-limited-ord-0.0001p

I think you've highlighted the problem with predicting the stock market in the short term.  The dollar value of what was traded on the NASDAQ was about half yesterday as what it was on Friday.

When I hear about these lab-grown meats, "emperor's new clothes" always springs to mind.  Millions of vegetarians and vegans already know they can get a good balanced diet by eating pulses.  Growing meat in the lab is not environmentally friendly compared to eating plants directly as one still has to grow large amounts of crops to provide the nutrients to grow the animal cells.  It's hard seeing any appeal of these meat-substitutes to meat eaters.  Those wanting to reduce meat consumption to improve their diet aren't necessarily going to want to replace it with highly processed foods.
