I have done this with various shares over the years. They are low, then I buy in and sell after a good profit. I have done that with Morrisons, Sainsburys, Carphonewarehouse etc

This strategy works very well for me with Megacaps stock such as Amazon, Google (Alphabets), FB, MSFT, AAPL. I have done that many times, so far so good.  They will normally dip when there is bad news, excessive market reaction / sentiment to bad news. It will however be bouncing back in about less than a month in many cases.  The reason for that is obvious imo, as not many institutional investors, hedge fund managers will be doing a sell-off without a fundamental change in business. The only cost is probably the opportunity cost as that money might be working harder by swinging other stocks (but more risky).

All I need to do is to investigate what make them dip and make that judgement. The news with Megacaps stock is everywhere. With Magecaps stock, they have endured the most severe testing, just study how quick they are bouncing back during the market crash in March in comparison to other stocks. Also through many years of their performance.

But I will be very carefully when it comes to penny stock without investigating them thoroughly, making sure that that dip is not because of fundamental change in business. There are too many variables that could move the price up and down. With "relatively"  low float, and the price of  a penny stock (very cheap price) the stock is very vulnarable to pump and dumb, could easily be moved by the price manipulators colluding each other. Not to mention short sellers gamblers. If they are not reputable companies another possibility is the Insider trading activity pretending to have played by the rule.

"Tesla shares rise, reversing early losses following $2 billion stock offering."

    https://www.cnbc.com/2020/02/13/tesla-shares-fall-after-company-announces-2-billion-common-stock-offering.html

Some investors traders who do not get used to with sort of news will do panic selling when they read the news like that. Other people know that stock offering to raise capital is not uncommon, let alone Tesla marketcap of US$600bil+. In many case there will be a short dip but will normally be followed by bouncing back in the new high because the investors know that they are doing that for a good cause.

That's a bit out of date. February 2020.
They raised $2B in Feb, $5B in September and can raise upto $5B this time.

Yes, pretty much, although not quite as dramatic as the example you posted above. It was actually a stock I held for a while (very small quantity because it was so risky), but I sold it when I thought it was done for some months back - CRIS was up around 450% yesterday at one point during trading:
Guess I should have held on.... live and learn!
