Hanging Pictures in a Rental?

About to move into my first rental and really want to hang pictures. Traditionally I would have used picture hooks with nails but guessing that's not going to go down well. Do people use these Command Hooks things? Do they really work? ie are they really completely invisible when removed after 12 months?

We use them a lot. Apart from the occasional mishap (usually due to user error, to be fair), they have worked well for us for the last 5 years. We've taken some down/moved them around etc and as long as you're careful when removing the strip thing then you're fine. I did once take a bit of paint off because I was pulling away from the wall rather than straight down, but you live and learn!

You can put hooks in of you want, you'd just need to fill the holes and make good when you leave.

No they do not work in my experience and I left them up for 24 hours before hanging the pictures.

You can do whatever you want, it's your home. Just fill in any holes when you leave

I have used them and still do and have never had any problems with them but I wouldn't use them to hang anything overly heavy, just incase!  As others have said though, as long as you make good when you leave, you can do whatever you like - it is your home.

We use Command hooks and they work well.  Just make sure to follow the instructions and use enough for the weight of your picture.  We don't rent so could drill holes if we want but we've started using them as they're easy and clean.

Yes, I used them in rentals and still sometimes in the place I own. Only had 1 time it failed but I was over the weight limit but to be fair I usually do go a little over the weight limit and its been fine other than that 1 time.

Isn’t it sometimes hard to match the paint colour.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

If anybody doesn't like the result they can always hide it by hanging up a picture...

Potentially yes, but that's quite subjective to the property
